Hello
and a warm welcome to all International Students!
So why
Sheffield? You might not already know that in addition to
having a fantastic law programme, Sheffield can also boast
a thriving international community. With so many large
international societies, even the task of choosing one can
be rather daunting. So why not begin with the Ed Bram
society?
My priority
this year will be integration. Continued integration of
International students into Sheffield through a wide
variety of socials, and especially encouraging more
integration between International and National students
throughout the year.
I hope the
activities planned for the two semesters will help all of
you discover some of the things Sheffield has to offer and
to make you feel more integrated with National students as
well as with each other! Its not easy adapting to a new
culture and through Ed Bram, I hope to make this a little
easier for you.
So what do I have planned for this year?
More physical
activities: Sporting events (between National and
International Students); walks in the beautiful Peak
District (it was love at first sight for me) and
paintballing (to name a few). Non-alcoholic events, more
day time socials, and of course some good old
fashioned nights out on the town.
Hopefully, the
London daytrip will go ahead in October and if successful,
there will be another action packed weekend trip around
Easter with some surprises, so sign up- itll be a great
laugh!
In addition to
the socials, there will be weekly meeting hours for you to
come talk to me and (fingers crossed) an International
Students mentoring scheme up and running sometime in the
first semester.
I would love to
hear from you about any ideas or activities that you want
to see included. I cant wait to meet all of you and hope
that you are as excited about the coming year as I am!
However, all of
this can only be done with your help! So please
take part to help make this the best year ever! Have
fun, get involved and youll get the most out of
your time here at Sheffield!
Good luck!
